Guinness
World
Record Stunt Attempt 2004
In 2004 Professional Stuntman Steve Truglia plans to break the Official Guinness
World Record for the Longest Full Body Burn by a Professional
Stunt Performer without the use of oxygen, (by breath
holding).
The official record currently
stands at 2mins 6secs.
"I am the current Official AIDA British No Limits Freediving Champion and
the UK's Deepest Freediver, and have a breath hold
of over 6mins.
This, of course, is under the most relaxed
conditions of floating face down in a warm pool, and with the
benefit of 40 mins preparation in a quiet and relaxed
environment.
The fire stunt will involve walking (to minimise the heat build
up around the head), whilst wearing around 110 pounds of
protective clothing and special fire resistant gel. My body
temperature will be rising as soon as the clothing is on, and my
heart rate will be increasing steadily. These factors will make
the breath hold extremely challenging " The
burn on the right was performed on the movie Labyrinth in
Beirut, Lebanon and lasted around 30 secs. This is
considered a 'long burn' on screen. |
