TRAINING SCHEDULE AND DIARY

Weekly Training:

Tuesday       -    2 Hrs Yoga,    Hard interval running session
Wednesday -    Pool training,    'Pipin' dry breath hold exercise,    Stretching
Thursday     -    Run or Mountain Bike,    Gym,    Pool training
Friday           -    Pool training,    Stretching
Saturday      -   'Pipin' exercise,    Run
Sunday        -    Easy run or Rest,    Stretching

Pool training consists of static apnea tables and dynamic training with fins and without.
Gym work consists of weight and circuit training
The running intervals session is one of the toughest athletics interval sessions around
The 'Pipin' exercise is a really tough breath hold that was designed by the great 'Pipin' Ferreras. I am also resuming my relationship with the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains in Wales, it's great for the quads, hammys, calves and glutes...not to mention the lungs!

 TRAINING DIARY OVERVIEW

September 4th - 9th 2001  First ever freediving. Greek islands 20m constant first day, 27m constant second day, break for bad weather, 35m variable last day. Decision made to pursue No Limits Freediving.
October 1st - 4th   Three days constant weight and free immersion training in Cornwall, dreadful weather.
October 22nd - 26th Constant and Free Immersion training in Dorothea quarry Wales with Duncan.
October 28th  HMS Dolphin Submarine escape training tower 30m of warm water.
November 19th-30th  Constant weight and No Limits training in Nice with Loic Leferme, got to 50 metres in No Limits.
December 16th-20th  Dived my own sled in Dorothea quarry, Wales. Training curtailed due to death of a scuba diver from a different group diving in the quarry.
December 27th - 30th  Back in Dorothea, first unofficial UK record (freshwater) 54 metres No Limits.
January 4th - February 11th 2002 Training in Nice with Loic. No Limits, Constant, Static and dynamic, got to 65 metres No limits, now deepest freediver in Britain.
March 16th - 26th No Limits training in Nice, weather bad, aborted training early.
April 2nd - 7th No Limits training in Nice, new pesonal best of 67 metres, Britain's deepest freediver.
April 14th - 18th No Limits training in Dorothea quarry, Wales, got to 70 metres, new unofficial British record. Had a cold and blocked nose all week. Still diving with a mask, still using valsalva equalising technique.
April 22nd - 23rd Travel to Fort William, Scotland to plan first official British No Limits record attempt.
April 24th  Empty lung training in a lake in Essex with scuba cover (thanks Mark).
April 28th - May 2nd More No Limits training in Wales, got to 71 metres.
May 9th - 13th No Limits training in Wales, New PB of 76 metres.
May 18th Official British No Limits Record, Loch Linnhe, Scotland 76 metres. Personally invited by Pipin Ferreras to be coached by him to get to 100 metres in June in Miami, Florida.
May 21st - June 4th Full time training in preparation for 100 metre attempt in June in Miami. Training sessions personally designed by Pipin Ferreras to prepare me physically for the deeper dives. Extremely tough apnea running and gym training schedule.
June 5th - 19th Miami, Florida being coached by Pipin. During this trip I will attempt to become the first Briton to reach the mystical mark of 100 metres on one breath. Bad weather caused us to postpone this attempt until July. Training with Pipin was exceptional. 
June 24th - 28th Medical research tests in the hyperbaric chamber, Murrayfields Hospital, The Wirral. Doing simulated deep dives with Tanya Streeter and Fred Buyle.
