FREEDIVE CATEGORIES |

| CONSTANT WEIGHT The freediver descends and then ascends with just their own strength. The diver must return to the surface with the same amount of weight that they start with, and may not use anything but their own finning for assistance. |

| VARIABLE WEIGHT The freediver descends whilst holding a weight of not more than 15kg, and then ascends by their own strength. They may use the rope to assist ascent. They may not use any form of air bag. |

| FREE IMMERSION The freediver pulls down the line, and then ascends in the same manner, without the use of fins. |
|
| NO LIMITS The freediver descends whilst holding a weight of no limit, and ascends with an air filled balloon. |
|
| DYNAMIC WITH FINS The freediver swims underwater in a pool whilst wearing fins. |
|
| DYNAMIC WITHOUT FINS As above without fins. |
|
| STATIC The freediver holds their breath with their face submerged in water (usually a swimming pool). |
